DESCRIPTION

Stunning, sharply defined bournonite crystals up to 15 mm, displaying the classic Trepča metallic lustre and cogwheel twinning, beautifully clustered over a brassy pyrite matrix with sphalerite. This specimen comes from the renowned Stan Terg (Stari Trg) Mine, part of the historic Trepča Pb‑Zn‑Ag complex in Kosovo, one of Europe’s most famous sulfide and sulfosalt localities.

The Stan Terg deposit is celebrated for producing exceptional bournonite, galena, sphalerite and pyrite due to its unique carbonate‑replacement and skarn geology, where Oligocene–Miocene hydrothermal fluids created open cavities ideal for crystal growth. Collectors prize Trepča pieces for their high‑contrast assemblages, combining dark sulfides with bright carbonates and pyrite, giving them an unmistakable “Trepča look.”
