DESCRIPTION
This is a superb extra‑large cabinet specimen, of rare tabular Galena, from the renowned 9th of September Mine in the Madan Municipality, Bulgaria—specifically the now‑submerged Osikovo deposit.
Mined over 40 years ago, it remained in the personal collection of its discoverer, Sevdalin Bashev, until we acquired it in late 2025.
The Galena displays a bright silvery‑metallic lustre and forms rare tabular crystals up to 2 cm across, each preferentially coated with Quartz druzy. This preferential coverage clearly reflects the specimen’s original orientation within the pocket. Combined with the quartz‑covered calcite crown, pyrite outcrops, and sparkling Sphalerite matrix, the piece has exceptional visual presence and would stand out as a statement specimen in any advanced collection.
